About

Side-by-Side in the Lord

I am a believer in Jesus, a wife, a mom, a church member, a daughter, a sister, a family member, a friend. I love good conversation, particularly about the Word of God. I enjoy reading, writing, spending time with my family, music, poetry, Algebra, and too many other things to mention here . . . I have detasseled corn, waited tables, served as a missionary actress throughout Europe and West Africa, worked as a legal assistant, directed a crisis pregnancy center, co-founded a church-based crisis care ministry, and done a lot of chores growing up on a beautiful Iowa farm. I continue to study the Bible in various contexts (the preaching of the Word, women's Bible study, memorizing scripture, personal devotions, and other teaching) in order that I may know God more and so that God may use me to help others grow in the grace and knowledge of the One Who loves them most. It is the power to change lives. "All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work." (2 Timothy 3.16-17) My educational background is eclectic. I draw from counseling coursework in the past, but I am primarily grounded in the three CCEF (Christian Counseling and Education Foundation) certificates that I have earned: • Level 1 (Foundations in Biblical Counseling), • Level 2 (Topics in Biblical Counseling), and • Level 3 (Counseling Skills and Practice). My undergraduate degree is a Bachelor of Arts in Christian Theology from Seattle Pacific University; however, I did the bulk of that degree at Presbyterian College, where my major was Theology and Philosophy. I have also done graduate coursework, and I continue to avail myself of trainings and other continuing education opportunities. I am someone who is thankful for Christ’s forgiveness and ongoing transformative work in my life, and who continues to be unendingly grateful for the redemption displayed through the love and work of Christ. My hope for our time together is to testify to the goodness and sufficiency of Christ, in all things. I commit to praying for you throughout our time together. (Please note: I am not, as defined by the State of Minnesota, a licensed or professional counselor, nor am I a healthcare provider. I am a biblical counselor.)
